Port Richmond is a driving neighborhood. The blocks are longer and wider than the ones closer in, a fair number of houses have a garage off the back alley or a pad at the side, and the vehicles are bigger: work pickups, vans with ladder racks, cars that do real mileage for a living. That shifts the mix of damage. Break-ins happen, but the bread and butter out here is windshields taken out by stone, because a truck that spends its week between Aramingo Avenue, Allegheny Avenue and the I-95 ramps is spending its week directly behind other people's rear tires.
