$250 to $450 fitted is what a windshield costs on most cars and light trucks, and the glass work runs about an hour before the safe drive-away wait begins. Juniata is roughly fifteen minutes from the bay at 1028 E Columbia Avenue, and on plenty of Juniata blocks there is a driveway, which means the van is a genuine option rather than a stretch. Almost every Juniata windshield we see started on Roosevelt Boulevard. It is twelve lanes with inner and outer drives running side by side, which means at any moment there is traffic doing thirty next to traffic doing fifty, and the gravel that collects along the lane lines gets picked up and thrown across that gap. A stone off a tire at that closing speed does not make a polite little bullseye; it makes a star with legs already in it. The surface adds the second half of the problem, because long stretches of the Boulevard are concrete slab and every joint gives the pane a measured thump at exactly the frequency a cracked windshield hates.
What separates a windshield that lasts from one that annoys you for years is entirely in the fit, and it is worth knowing what to ask anyone who quotes you. Was the old urethane cut back to a thin even bed and primed, or was the new bead laid over dirt and bare metal that will corrode under the glass. Is the bead continuous, because a cold joint where two runs meet is where a leak or a wind whistle starts. Are the moldings new, since the originals have been in the sun for years and rarely go back looking right. And what is the actual safe drive-away time for the adhesive used, in that day's temperature, on that car. Those four answers are the job. The number you were quoted should still be the number on the invoice at the end of it.
“Rich is amazing! Helped me with a broken window. He was able to get me in same day and did beautiful work at an incredible price point. I literally tell everyone now to go to him if they need anything done.”

Juniata is the part of our map where a windshield can genuinely be done at the house, because a lot of these blocks have off-street parking that the river wards simply do not: a driveway alongside or under the front of the house, sometimes a garage behind. A car standing on its own concrete with nothing passing within six feet is close to bay conditions, and it lets the cure happen where you are rather than where we are. Two Juniata caveats. Driveways here often run to a slope, and a pronounced one changes how the pane settles while the urethane is green, so we will look at it before committing. And the Boulevard is not a workplace under any circumstances, so if the car is stranded on the outer drive it gets moved first.
Same service, same price, other Fishtown neighborhoods:
At six inches and growing, almost certainly not, and Boulevard damage is the classic version of this. A stone thrown at that speed puts more energy into the glass than a slow-speed hit does, so the break starts with legs rather than as a clean crater, and those legs run fast once the temperature starts swinging. Long crack repair exists but it leaves a visible line and it does not restore the pane, so we only recommend it in narrow cases. Call with the length and where it sits and you will be told which of the two you are looking at before you drive anywhere.
A driveway is one of the best places to do this work, so yes, in most cases. What we check first is width, since we need clear ground on both sides of the car rather than just room to squeeze a van in behind it, and slope, because a steeply pitched driveway is not where you want a pane setting into wet urethane. Weather still applies: rain stops a bonded windshield outdoors regardless of how good the space is. If any of that goes against us, the drive down is about fifteen minutes and you wait the cure out inside.
